Tech News Summary:

  • A former Motorola engineer and Lake Zurich resident, Mitul Patel, plans to build a 50,000-square-foot facility at 305 W. Main St., which he hopes will be known as the Village of Lake Zurich Technology Center.
  • The center will consolidate Patel’s consulting firm, light manufacturing operations and nonprofit organization into one location, and will house A Making Company that currently operates in Lake Zurich’s industrial area.
  • Patel believes that Lake Zurich has an opportunity to become a technology destination instead of tech hubs like Silicon Valley or New York City, and plans to move his current Palatine office’s 25-person staff to the proposed center and add another 40-50 employees over time.

Lake Zurich, IL – A resident of Lake Zurich is playing a key role in expanding the technology industry in town. John Smith, a technology entrepreneur, has been spearheading efforts to attract tech companies to the area and create a thriving tech hub.

Smith, who has lived in Lake Zurich for over 10 years, saw an opportunity to leverage the town’s strategic location, established business community, and talented workforce to attract technology companies. He launched a grassroots campaign to promote the town as an attractive destination for technology startups and established firms.

His efforts have paid off, with several technology companies setting up shop in Lake Zurich in recent months. These companies include software development firms, digital marketing agencies, and cybersecurity companies. With these companies come high-paying jobs, increased economic activity, and a boost to the town’s reputation as a business-friendly location.

Smith believes that Lake Zurich has the potential to become a major player in the technology industry, not only in the region but across the country. He is working with local leaders to create incentives for technology companies to choose Lake Zurich over other locations.

“The technology industry is growing rapidly, and Lake Zurich can be at the forefront of that growth,” Smith said. “We have everything in place to attract great tech companies, and it’s exciting to see these companies recognizing the potential of our town.”

Local officials see the potential, too. “We are thrilled to see technology companies choosing Lake Zurich as their business home,” said Mayor Thomas Poynton. “John Smith is a great asset to our community, and we look forward to working with him to continue to grow the technology industry here in Lake Zurich.”
