Automotive technology company Veoneer has signed a deal with a major Asian OEM to equip its electric vehicle joint venture in China with an active safety system consisting of a monovision camera, a predictive and cornering radar package and an ADAS control unit.
In 2024, Veoneer will begin supplying and integrating active safety systems designed for Level 2+ co-operating. The system’s high safety features are maintained even in bad weather and darkness, triggering an alarm, controlling the vehicle to avoid an accident, reduce the severity of an accident, and automatically brake the car.
The award includes Veoneer’s 4th generation monovision system. The hardware is integrated with software that uses deep learning technology to identify objects such as cars, road markings and traffic signs. Veoneer’s corner and forward radars provide reliable and accurate situational awareness of objects around the vehicle and are essential for autonomous driving systems.
Radar systems are used to warn of possible collisions, avoid accidents in blind spots and can, among other things, control the stop-and-go function in traffic jams.
“We are proud to receive this important award for the growing Chinese market from a prominent customer in Asia. It’s a true testament to our continued presence at the forefront of technology that provides automakers with the safety and reliability of active safety systems.”
Veoneer’s ADAS ECU, the multilingual brain that keeps an eye on the environment and combines data from cameras, radars, and sensors, interprets the situation and makes wise decisions to support the driver, and activates features like automatic lane changes or emergency braking, is also recognized with the award.
