After a hiatus of over a decade, there’s a new Dragonlance novel by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman – Dragons of Desate. This is the first book in the new Dragonlance Destiny series.
And after Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) 4th Edition skipped Dragonlance as a campaign setting, D&D 5th Edition not only offers a full-fledged adventure book, but also additional board games for the franchise.
Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen is a new 224-page hardcover adventure book for D&D, available December 6th.
There’s also the board game Dragonlance: Warriors of Krin that you can play with Adventure.
A brief introduction to Dragonlance
Both products can be played as standalone games, but groups with access to both will find interactivity between the two, along with instructions on how to integrate both games. First announced six months ago, the two games are finally here for players (and DMs) to sink their claws into.
The Dragonlance game takes place in the dragon-centric world of Krynn. There, the power of the evil dragon goddess Takhisis is fought by heroes and the good dragon god Paladin.
Her eponymous Dragonlance is a specially forged weapon capable of slaying evil dragons.
Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen will lead at a late October press conference to be “a global conflict between the invasion of Dragon Queen Her Taxis and Her Dragon Her Army and the forces of good.” said her designer Wes Schneider. This adventure is aimed at players from level 1 to 11 and revolves around a “cinematic and dynamic sense of the battlefield”. “Dragonlance is theater for war, what Spelljammer is for Starfaring adventures and Forgotten Realms is for advanced magic,” Schneider explains the focus of the hardcover adventures.
Players can see aspects of Knight of Solamnia, Mage of High He Sorcery, Kender, and their favorite Dragonlance in-game.
