God of War Ragnarok already holds the title of the series’ biggest UK launch to date.
God of War: Ragnarok dominated the UK charts, lasting less than three full days. Expected to debut at No. 1 on the UK charts this week in terms of box sales, Ragnarok made its predictions just two days after launch.
That means that if Ragnarok is inevitably going to be the best-selling boxing game of the week, it’ll be his fourth feat in God of Wargame.
GfK, who provided data to GamesIndustry.biz, claims Ragnarok is the largest game launch across the UK franchise. “Day one physical sales are already more than any other opening of the week for any other title in this franchise,” says GfK boss Dorian Bloch.
Considering that a total of 12 God of War games have been released in the UK since the series started in 2005, including compilations and spin-offs, Ragnarok said he’ll be returning to the series four years after the 2018 reboot. It shows that the revival is making great progress.
It’s a great achievement for Ragnarok, and Bloch says it also contributes to the fact that this is the first cross-generational launch of his title in the God of War franchise.
