Following an alleged black market transaction, an Epic Games contractor working as a Fortnite Community Operations Manager has been suspended. A Russian contractor is accused of creating and selling Minty’s pickaxe codes, leaking payments from creator cards, assisting his buddies in enhancing their Discovery cards, and creating other Discovery cards in an effort to convince them to remove their own.
Creators are unable to receive fair remuneration due to a thorough explanation of the contractor’s alleged misbehavior (which I am not linking to since it might reveal sensitive personal information). The author alleges that his tags were deleted.
Epic Games Newsroom has now publicly confirmed this claim. In a response to his Twitter thread on Fortnite News regarding the allegations, Epic confirmed that the contractor’s access to his Fortnite systems was blocked during the investigation. We have also confirmed that the aforementioned video has been removed due to privacy concerns.
“While we actively investigate these allegations, we have blocked this contractor’s access to Epic’s systems,” the tweet said. “This video has been removed from the Fortnite community creators because it contained sensitive personal information.”
The Epic Games contractor in question appears to have deleted or unpublished their social media profiles following these allegations and Epic’s statement. We have reached out to Epic regarding the status and scope of the investigation and will update this article as soon as we receive feedback.
