In an effort to hasten the transition to a net zero economy, Banco Santander and the Envision Group, a leader in clean technology, have formed a cooperation today. The two firms will work together to encourage the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
As part of the agreement, Banco Santander will support Envision Group’s strategic projects globally through the provision of commercial, corporate, and investment banking services. This includes the creation of net zero industrial parks in Spain and other countries that will include the battery Gigafactory of Envision AESC, a renewable generation and storage system, a green hydrogen generation plant, and other well-known industries.
Additionally, Banco Santander will work with Envision Digital, the net-zero and Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) Tech unit, to investigate how its Net Zero technology might be applied to Santander’s customers in order to promote the energy transition in various industries and lower Santander’s overall financed emissions. In addition, Envision Digital will work with Santander to track and further enhance the headquarters of the Santander Group’s energy efficiency, which has already been carbon neutral since 2020.
“The partnership with Envision is a great example of how cross-industry cooperation could generate synergies that will allow us to further support our clients and communities in the transition towards a net-zero economy and help people and businesses prosper in a sustainable way,” said José Antonio lvarez, CEO of Santander Group.
