Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan combined for 56 points, 32 and 24, respectively, as Lonzo Ball missed his first game of the season. Bulls were also without Alex Caruso, who is out with a left foot sprain.
The Chicago Bulls (20-10) recorded their third straight win after beating the Indiana Pacers (14-20) on Sunday at United Center.
White’s struggles from beyond the arc, missing all four of his 3-point attempts, did not affect Chicago in the end, coming out with the win thanks to the efforts from the other starters. Javonte Green put up 13 points, while Nikola Vucevic tallied 16 of his own to go with 15 rebounds.
Hours before tipoff, Ball joined Bulls head coach Billy Donovan in health and safety protocols, blaming the media for “jinxing” him after avoiding last week’s outbreak in Chicago. Coby White took Ball’s place on the starting lineup, but struggled in 33 minutes on the floor, scoring just eight points on 3 of 10 shooting, and adding just one assist.
Pacers had five players with double-digits in scoring, led by Caris LeVert’s 27 points on 9 of 22 shooting from the field. Myles Turner added 19 points, Domantas Sabonis had 14 points and 16 rebounds, Justin Holiday added 10 points, and Chris Duarte ended the night with 16.
Rematch in Indiana
Bulls will now face the Atlanta Hawks twice before heading to Indiana for another battle against the Pacers. Meanwhile, Pacers will head home to take on the Charlotte Hornets before their rematch against Chicago.
