Friday nights at the Wynwood Center usually mean big business, but under the Miami-Dade County 12 o’clock curfew, owner Jose Estrada says things have been tough.
“The tourism that comes, they have no idea,” Estrada said. “So they will arrive here at around 10:30, 11 and we will close at 11:30 to make sure everyone is out by 12”.
Estrada owns two bars in Wynwood, both of which have been financially affected by the closure of bars and nightclubs last year and the curfew.
“It’s difficult for us because we have employees,” Estrada said. “We have families. Our employees have families. “
He is one of about a dozen entrepreneurs in Wynwood, along with owners of El Patio and Coyo Taco, who are suing the county for money lost due to the midnight curfew.
