WhatsApp Payments live in India, here is how to enable feature on app

WhatsApp Payments was launched in India after a long wait of two years. The Facebook-owned messaging app first proposed the idea of introducing the payment feature in India in 2018, but it took the company two years to get clearance from NPCI. WhatsApp has implemented the Payments feature to take over the leading payment app in India, including Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay and others.

“We have worked on this with the National Payments Corporation of India, which oversees everything to make sure it is safe and reliable. And we have created it using India’s Unified Payments Interface, which allows anyone to immediately accept payments via different apps and companies to provide people with excellent services “, Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg said of the launch.

“With UPI, India has created something truly special and is opening up a world of opportunities for the micro and small businesses that are the backbone of the Indian economy. India is the first country to do something similar. I am happy that we have been able to support this effort and work together to help make India more digital. I want to thank all our partners who made it possible, ”he added.
