After teasing him for weeks, Vivo has finally launched its new Android-based operating system for smartphones, OriginOS. This new skin comes as a complete overhaul of the company’s previous FuntouchOS, and as such it not only looks fresh and to the touch, but also offers new features over Vivo’s previous operating system.

However, the biggest improvements made with OriginOS are in the performance department. This is because, with the new operating system, Vivo claims improved performance thanks to updates of fundamental elements such as the home screen, wallpapers, game board and more. The overall experience is said to become smoother, more convenient and safer than before as a result.

Speaking of tweaks individually, on the visual side of things, the home screen brings a brand new desktop grid system, which allows for a lot of flexibility and can be used to create a number of layout combinations. There is also a new behavioral wallpaper system called performance wallpaper. Apart from this, Vivo also adds some updates to the message notification as it brings a feature called atomic notifications which can automatically show key information about a message directly in the notification.

Vivo also revealed that OriginOS will bring new navigation gestures with it. While the company hasn’t detailed them all yet, it is rumored that OriginOS will come with 26 navigation combinations that can be completed simply by clicking and operating.

There are also other new features coming to OriginOS that bring something called a super card pack. This Vivo complaint can be invoked with a single swipe both when the screen is off and when it is on. The list of new features also includes an atomic component library that summarizes all atomic components and provides a variety of easy and convenient ways to retrieve them. Also, with the new operating system, dragging icons from the component library and into the application interface can generate small windows for multi-task operation scenarios.

As for performance, it has been announced that OriginOS will ship with the latest Multi-Turbo 5.0 technology that offers features like memory fusion, process optimization and application preloading. A new RAM optimization technology is also used which integrates RAM and ROM through algorithm optimization. With this in play, some of the idle ROM space can be used for the RAM operation function, thus improving the performance. Vivo claims that this feature will greatly improve the phone’s ability to perform multiple tasks and open more applications.

In addition, the new operating system also offers system resident process optimization that reduces memory usage for 100-200 MB of system operations. While with preload, OriginOS can intelligently preload applications that are ready to open, thereby reducing application startup times by reducing cold starts by 40%.

The biggest improvements made with OriginOS are in the performance department.

News Underline:

  • OriginOS brings updates across the board for phones.
