And Walmart has plenty of great deals for the top systems. We’ve highlighted a few of the best digital deals on the Switch, along with some affordable physical editions for PlayStation and Xbox to enjoy after the holidays.

Christmas is approaching quickly, which means most gifts that need to be mailed are out of stock. If you’re shopping for a video game enthusiast, though, you’re in luck: digital delivery means you can obtain new games today or even at the last minute.

  • Here are some great games — many available via digital download — at great prices. Gift them now, and make someone’s holiday.

  • Still looking for a PlayStation 5? With each shipment, Walmart puts aside a few systems for Walmart+ members and makes them available only via special sale. Membership is only $13 a month or $98 a year, and you get a two-week free trial when you sign up here. But take note: In order to take advantage of the special PS5 Walmart+ member sales, you need to be out of the free trial period.

If you like school and relationship drama, then Three Houses is the game for you. The tactical game features swords and magic, and it puts you in control of the story. You can’t help but be invested in the characters’ fates, as one player explains: “This game is wholesome and gets you EXTREMELY involved with the characters of the house you choose. It’s delightful. At the same time, the stakes are higher than ever, as you form a real attachment to your characters. The game is also heartbreaking.” Better buy some tissues!

The holidays are a time of family bonding, though this year you might want to do it from a bit of a distance. Jackbox Party Pack 7 makes it easy to have fun together while apart. Anyone can play: all you need is a web browser on a phone to join in. For folks who like to draw and/or answer trivia questions, this pack is a lot of fun. The games go down pretty quickly too, so it’s easy to try them all and find your favorites. Jackbox Party Pack 7 is download-only so the only waiting involved is the time it takes to install. Right now you can save $11 on this fun family experience!

This game might not be as well known as some of the other titles on this list, but it’s a must-have nonetheless. Sci-fi anime fans love the dystopian hack-and-slash adventure, while gamers enjoy the “great visuals and fast-paced action” with players complimenting its “very fun fighting mechanics.” Another shopper dubs it “a reason to own the Switch if you love action games.”

Gamers revere this comic-book-based title from a decade ago, but until recently Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was super difficult to get. Now it’s been re-released on systems like the Switch, and players today can get all the insane beat-em-up action and cartoonish storytelling for only $12. Play as Scott Pilgrim, known by his bandmates as “the best fighter in the province,” or one of his friends against legions of thugs, zombies and oh yeah, angry exes!

It’s been almost five years since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released for the Nintendo Switch, and we have no idea when the sequel is coming. Luckily, there are games like Immortal Fenyx Rising to scratch your itch for an open immersive world and epic story. The PlayStation 5 version is just $18, a 70 percent (!!!) discount. Gamers love this title, calling it “super fun and challenging,” and “one of Ubisoft’s best games!” It has a “Great story, great open world” and “a sense of humor.” That sounds like a great way for a player to spend their holiday season!

It’s safe to say that the Mortal Kombat franchise is a classic at this point, and the recent Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate has everything gamers love about the series: Crazy, imaginative characters, thrilling moves and even silly features like “Friendship” to finish off your enemies. This version ups the stakes by adding even more characters from all sorts of media, like the Joker, Robocop and Rambo. Sounds crazy, but it’s also super fun and on sale for only $40! If your family gamer won’t receive the PS5 this year, they still deserve a few new games to enjoy. There are still a lot of great games being released for the PS4 system, and there are plenty of deals to be had for titles old and new.

One popular new game is Final Fantasy VII Remake. The original was an instant classic upon its release back in 1997, and this remake gives it a super slick facelift. A fan of the original says even though they hesitated to buy this new one, they were “not disappointed,” adding that it’s “faithful to the original story with a twist! Better storytelling with the improved graphics.”

Shoppers note it’s good for all ages, with one parent saying “My little one can even play it” and another enthusing “I bought Kingdom Hearts for my son and he can’t stop talking about how much he is enjoying the game.” If the kids love it this much, it’ll certainly make a great addition to your own collection. Final Fantasy XII isn’t one of the more famous titles in the popular Final Fantasy franchise, but maybe it should be. After all, it’s got it all: a princess trying to win back her throne, ghosts, enchanted forests and even sky pirates. It’s so good that it was given a shiny remake a few years ago, one that souped up the graphics and gameplay for a modern audience. And now it’s insanely inexpensive, at Walmart: down to a mere $8; that’s a whopping 84 percent discount on one of my favorite Final Fantasy games. Maybe it will be one of your faves too!

If you haven’t heard of the franchise, Kingdom Hearts is an action-packed role-playing game where Disney meets Final-Fantasy, and this collection has 10 of the games in the series collected together for one super low price. Kingdom Hearts All-in-One Package would still be a great bargain at its regular price of $50, but right now it’s 50 percent off, only $25. That’s a crazy good deal, and your loved ones will love playing with Mickey, Donald and Goofy, as well as meeting new friends like Sora and Riku. There’s a lot you didn’t learn about the American Revolution in school. You certainly didn’t read about a secret society pulling the strings and a band of assassins trying to stop them. That’s what makes this historically based game so much fun — the way it plays with real historic figures and events. This package gives you two thrilling colonial adventures: the remastered version of Assassin’s Creed III, which originally came out on the PlayStation 3, and Liberation, a title that came out on the handheld Vita featuring a female assassin and set in New Orleans. It may not be the most accurate version of events, but it’s certainly the most fun! Save $26 right now!
