    Uber users in Delhi, Kolkata can now book e-rickshaws from the app

    Auto racing giant Uber has now added rickshaws to its transport list on the app. The company on Thursday announced the launch of Uber e-rickshaws in Kolkata. Previously Uber only dealt with taxis and cars, but this would be the first time it will add electronic rickshaws to its platform. The company revealed it will distribute over 500 electronic rickshaws in Calcutta.

    Uber aims to make short-distance travel easier for commuters in Kolkata. Users can now see the option to book an electric rickshaw next to the cars. Along with UberGo, Uber Premium, Uber Rentals, Auto users will now see UberToto. Services will be available in Howrah, Barasat, Madhyamgram, Rajarhat, Salt Lake and others.

    Calcutta isn’t the only state to receive this new offer from Uber. In early November, Uber had launched electronic rickshaw services in Delhi. The company had distributed over 100 electronic rickshaws to various locations in Delhi. Services in Delhi’s 26 metro stations such as Ashok Park Main, Dabri Mor, ESI Basaidarapur, Inderlok, Janakpuri East, Janakpuri West, Kanhaiya Nagar metro, Keshav Puram, Madipur, Mayapuri, Moti Nagar, Paschim Vihar East, Punjabi Bagh west, Rajouri Garden, Ramesh Nagar, Satguru Ram singh Marg, Shadipur, Shakurpur, Shastri Nagar, Shivaji Park, Subhash Nagar, Tagore Garden, Tilak Nagar, Uttam Nagar East, Uttam Nagar West and Kirti Nagar.
