Launch of the Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) investigation for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Mumbai-Nagpur high-speed rail corridor from Friday.
The proposed 736km bullet train project will likely connect Shahapur, Igatpuri, Nashik, Mehkar, Malegaon, Pulgaon, Wardha and Khapri, National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) said in a statement.
It is using Li-DAR technology which provides data in 3-4 months versus the usual 10-12 months, he said.
In LiDAR detection, an aircraft equipped with aerial LiDAR and image sensors acquires the data related to ground relief.
To provide clear images of structures, trees and other fine terrain details, 100 megapixel cameras are used for LiDAR detection.
NHSRCL has been tasked with preparing the DPR for seven high-speed rail corridors in the country.
