At the time, the studio was looking for new employees who could “push next-gen platforms and the PC to their limits on Apex Legends”. The game is currently in its eleventh season, with Season 12 set to start on 8th February 2022. The PS5 version could well be part of that new content rollout. Apex Legends is one of a few popular live-service titles that haven’t made the jump to PS5 natively just yet. Call of Duty: Warzone is another, which is still attached to the frameworks of 2019 title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. A native PS5 version has at least been promised from Activision, however.

If recent findings from the PlayStation Game Size Twitter account are to be trusted, a native PlayStation 5 version of Apex Legends will be released soon. A PS5 version of the Battle Royale game weighing in at over 80GB was posted this morning by the profile, which scours the PSN database for information and new game additions. Respawn Entertainment has never stated that such a thing is in the works, although job listings from April 2020 indicated that it had such ambitions.
