The PC women’s circle will host the mighty UConn on January 30th

GreenPower reports the financial results for the fourth quarter of 2021

The conference announced its women’s schedule Friday morning, and the perennial national power visits Alumni Hall for a national broadcast on SNY. Bueckers enjoyed a stunning debut with the Huskies last season, sweeping the four major National Player of the Year awards. She was the first freshman to capture even one of them.

That’s when Paige Bueckers and Connecticut make their annual trip to Providence for a Big East showdown with the Friars.

  • Providence plays its first three league games on campus, hosting Creighton on Dec. 19 before finally hitting the road. The Friars will come off their 12-day exam break by visiting Xavier on New Year’s Eve and continue the road swing through Butler on Jan. 2. The first full month of league play includes a three-game homestand and a three-game road trip.

  • The Friars open league play with a pair of games Dec. 3 and Dec. 5, hosting Villanova and Georgetown. Those come in the midst of a nonconference schedule that includes an exhibition opener with Bentley on Nov. 4, a matchup with the University of Rhode Island on Nov. 17 and a visit to Brown on Dec. 8. The visit from the Wildcats doubles as a homecoming for Portsmouth native Kylie Swider, a sophomore forward who appeared in eight games off the bench in 2020-21.

Providence closed just 7-14 overall last season, including a 4-10 mark in league play. The Friars endured nine postponements due to COVID-19 protocols and played just one game between Jan. 9 and Feb. 10. Providence dropped its last five regular season games and fell to Marquette, 68-43, at the conference tournament.

Providence finishes the regular season at Connecticut on Feb. 27, a game that will be shown on CBS Sports Network. The Friars are set to play two other games on Fox Sports 1, and the majority of their contests will be streamed online at FloSports. Mohegan Sun Arena will host the Big East Tournament from March 4-7, with the title game tipping on Monday.

The Friars figure to lean heavily on players like transfer guard Janai Crooms, a Cranston native who spent three seasons at Ohio State and Michigan State. Providence’s recruiting class also included New York guard Meghan Huerter, the sister of Atlanta Hawks sharpshooter Kevin Huerter. Yale visits for the season opener on Nov. 9.
