SEGA is removing classic Sonic the Hedgehog titles from the PlayStation Store

This doesn’t appear to affect compilations, like the SEGA Genesis Classics collection, so don’t worry about that. It’s also worth noting that if you have any of these titles in your Game Library, you’ll still be able to download and play them at a later date. All three of these games are getting pulled from PS Now as well, but seeing as that service is ending soon, it’s not a massive loss.

SEGA is delisting a slew of iconic Sonic the Hedgehog titles from the PlayStation Store, just like Rockstar did with the GTA Trilogy. The PlayStation 3 is the greatest victim. The standalone versions of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic CD will be removed on May 20, 2022.

Highlights

  • So, why delist the games? Well, the company wants you to buy the upcoming Sonic Origins on PS5 and PS4 instead, so that appears to be the primary motivation. Considering that Sony planned to have the PS3 store shutdown by now, we don’t necessarily think this is the end of the world. If you still want to grab them, though, you know what to do!
