The dust has just settled on the launch of Apple’s latest iPhone 12 and we already have news coming on Samsung pushing forward its plans to launch the Galaxy S30 series of phones to make the new ones look like iPhone a thing of the past.
Following the new information to come, the successor to the 2020 Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is set for release in January 2021. The phone will be called the Galaxy S30 Ultra and will launch alongside the Galaxy S30. This information comes after there were reports of the series’ mass production last week.
Along with the information, we were also treated to CAD-based renders of the two phones courtesy of tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) who revealed the design of the Galaxy S30 Ultra. Hemmerst offers CAD renders of the S30 Ultra that reveal key details about the device.
In terms of size, the tipster claims that the S30 Ultra’s screen will be between 6.7 and 6.9 inches and will measure approximately 165.1 x 75.6 x 8.9mm. However, it claims that there is no slot for the S-Pen, although it is believed that the phone will still support it. Speaking of the Galaxy S30, the dimensions of the phone are said to be 151.7 x 71.2 x 7.9m. If this is really true, it would mean the S30 will be slightly wider than the S20.
The report further states that the Galaxy S30 series could launch earlier than usual, as the phone will arrive in January 2021. This would be the first version for a flagship of the Samsung Galaxy S. The phone is expected to launch in three models, including an S30 Ultra high-end with support for an S Pen and new camera features.
Interestingly, it will also be the first time Samsung has launched a new Galaxy device this close to iPhone Apple’s flagship. Barely months between them, a January launch for the Galaxy S30 could essentially make choosing between the two a more difficult exercise and could tip many undecided buyers in Samsung’s favor.
It would also give it a good edge over competing flagships from other phone makers that will start rolling out a month or two after the January launch for the Samsung Galaxy S series.
