Samsung today launches a new phone in India. This phone is the Galaxy S20 FE and will be priced at Rs 49,999, some reports note. The FE in the phone name stands for “fan edition” and is a cheaper version of the Galaxy S20 series phones. It’s also a phone that Samsung wants to compete with the phenomenal OnePlus 8 Pro.
According to a 91Mobiles report, the Galaxy S20 FE with 8GB of RAM, 4G and 128GB of storage will cost Rs 49,999. This is the only variant of the S20 FE that will be launched in India. There will be no 6GB variant and no 5G variant.
In Rs 49,999, with the Galaxy S20 FE, consumers will receive: a 6.5-inch screen with FullHD + resolution of 1080 × 2400 pixels, AMOLED panel, 120 Hz refresh rate, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space. They will also have a 4500 mAh battery with 15W fast charging, three rear cameras 12 megapixel main camera, 12 megapixel wide angle camera and 8 megapixel zoom camera. There is a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front.
Compared to the global variant which has a better Snapdragon 865 processor, the Indian variant gets the Exynos 990 chipset. The Galaxy S20 FE also comes with the older Android 10, which is under Samsung’s One UI 2.0 software.
The Galaxy S20 FE sounds like a decent phone priced at Rs 49,999, although the problem is that it competes with the OnePlus 8 Pro which looks better than it is. And then there’s an upcoming sale on e-retail sites where they like phones iPhone 11 could end up selling for around Rs 50,000, and that too will make life a bit difficult for the S20 FE. But let’s wait for the official announcement and official prices before making these comparisons. Stay tuned.
