Tech News: ‘Resident Evil 4’ to come on Oculus Quest 2 later this year.
As promised, Oculus had new details to share about the upcoming VR remaster of Resident Evil 4. When it comes out later this year on Oculus Quest 2, you’ll be able to replay the GameCube classic in first person. This means that many of the game systems have been modified to make them more suitable for virtual reality.
For example, you can move Leon by pushing the analog stick forward on Quest 2’s Touch controllers or by using the teleportation and space scaling capabilities that the Armature developer has added to the game. Weapons and items are physical objects in the game world that you can collect. This means that if you want to use your gun, for example, you can take it from Leon’s holster instead of jumping into the menu.
Beyond the gameplay changes, Armature has tried to keep the experience similar to the Resident Evil experience that fans know and love. You’ll see the footage in their original format, and the studio claims to have faithfully recreated the animations and textures in Unreal Engine 4. Oculus and Armature have promised to share more details about the remaster soon.
