The WD_BLACK SN850 SSD comes in a range of capacities including 500 GB, 1 TB, as well as the 2 TB edition offered in today’s discount. All of the drives in this line use a PCIe Gen4 x4 interface and have an M.2 2280 form factor. The speed is pretty high for a drive in this price range and is consistent across each of the capacities offered. The drive has a maximum read speed of 7000 MB/s while the write speed caps out at 5300 MB/s.

For today’s Amazon Prime Day, the WD BLACK SN850 2 TB SSD is on sale at a competitive price. Although it is now on sale for just $180 with free shipping for Amazon Prime members, its recommended price is $239. Since its initial release in 2020, this is the WD BLACK SN850 2 TB SSD’s lowest price to date. A closer look at this discount is absolutely warranted for a vehicle with this level of performance. • I have one of these inside my PS5 Digital Edition, and I couldn’t be happier with it. My own comparisons show that it is a hair faster than the stock SSD built-in to the PS5. I have the console settings set to download/install PS4 games to the stock SSD, and PS5 games to the WD Black drive. The stock drive only has about ~650GB of user accessible space, so for playing your back catalog of PS4 games it works out well. The 2TB WD Black drive of course has all 2TB ready to be used for PS5 installs.

  • Users have the option of using Western Digital’s proprietary WD_BLACK Dashboard software application to manage the drive and customize settings, however, it is only available to Windows users. The purchase includes a 5-year warranty that voids should the drive reach 1200 TBW. Visit the WD_BLACK SN850 2 TB SSD product page at Amazon for more details and options to check out.
