Redmi launched a number of new phones in India this year, and among them, the Redmi 9 Pro was arguably one of the best sellers. Launched in March of this year, the phone became a big hit and has since been upgraded to MIUI 12 based on Android 10.
However, a new report now claims that the phone has started receiving the Android 11 update in India. According to reports, Redmi Note 9 Pro users in India are now receiving the update to Android 11 that comes with the build number V18.104.22.168.RJWINXM. The update according to a report published by GizmoChina is currently in a stable beta phase and as such is available only for selected users. The report adds that if all goes well and users don’t face any issues with the update, this build will roll out as stable for a wider audience in a few weeks.
Redmi Note 9 Pro: specifications and features
The Redmi Note 9 Pro carries the company’s Aura Balance design philosophy, with the phone housing a 6.67-inch display with support for resolutions up to Full HD + (2400 × 1080). The panel is IPS technology and boasts a 20: 9 aspect ratio covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. The chipset gets 8 Kyro 465 cores for handling heavy and general tasks. This chipset manufactured at 8nm also houses an Adreno 618 GPU for improved performance in games. The chipset has been paired up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage on the Redmi Note 9 Pro.
For cameras, the Redmi Note 9 Pro promises great performance for the price it commands. It has a quad camera with a 48 megapixel lens. The main focus is a Samsung ISOCELL GM2 with support for technologies such as PDAF and Super Stablisation. Next to it is an 8 Megapixel ultra wide angle lens with a 120 degree field of view.
The camera setup also includes a 5-megapixel lens for click macros and another 2-megapixel for depth sensing. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel AI camera. Keeping the lights on the device is a 5020mAh battery, however, unlike the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, the Note 9 Pro only supports 18W fast charging.
