Realme X7 bags BIS certification, India launch in 2021

The Realme X7 series is headed to India but there is no clear date for when it will launch here. The company has been announcing the India launch of the Realme X7 and X7 Pro for a while, providing interesting details. Realme India boss Madhav Sheth tweeted confirmation that Realme X7 and X7 Pro will arrive in India along with a timeline. Sheth said the X7 series will launch in India next year. Prior to launch, Realme X7 received a certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

The BIS website database now shows the Realme model number RMX2176, which belongs to Realme X7. Certification for Realme X7 was granted by the authority on November 17, which is too early considering Sheth is projecting the timing of the launch for next year. The Realme X7 Pro, which is a larger model in the series, received BIS certification earlier this month, but no concrete timeline was available for the series to launch. At the time, there were rumors that the Realme X7 series would launch in India in December.

    Realme X7 India launched

So now, Reame X7 and X7 Pro, have both obtained certifications, which confirms that they will soon be on the market. The launch could take place in January 2021 but, again, we don’t have a specific date yet. Realme is expected to share the launch date next month, at least a week before the scheduled launch, if and when that happens. Additionally, Sheth has also confirmed that Realme X7 and X7 Pro will launch in other global markets, but more information is awaited.

Realme is underlining its partnership with MediaTek for the X7 series because the two phones use the chip maker’s cheap 5G SoCs. Realme X7 is powered by a Dimensity 800U while the X7 Pro uses a Dimensity 1000L chipset under the hood. Both of these chips are integrated with 5G modems that have an affordable cost to “democratize 5G”. Indeed, with the Realme X7 series, MediaTek will mark the launch of its 5G smartphone chipsets in India. Qualcomm brought back its Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G technology in February, thanks to Realme’s flagship X50 Pro model.

    The first 5G solutions

Realme has a rich plan that includes flooding the Indian market with affordable 5G phones as soon as possible. Notably, it was the first brand to bring the first 5G phone to India, but it was suitable for premium customers. While India has yet to see commercially available 5G services, Realme and other smartphone companies, including Apple, don’t shy away from bringing their 5G-enabled phones to India. The argument that these smartphones are future-proof makes a lot of sense right now until the 5G services starting in India lead to reality. This means that while you won’t be able to use 5G in India right away, you won’t have to change your device for when next generation services are available.

Realme X7 and X7 Pro are equipped with MediaTek Dimensity processors under the hood that offer 5G services at affordable prices.
