Realme had a smash hit in India this Diwali. The company announces that it has sold over 8.3 million devices in a 30-day period, which technically includes multiple holiday season sales in India. Oppo’s offshoot began its journey in 2018 from India, which is why this figure indicates how far – and quickly – Realme has come to be included in the top five smartphone brands in India. In addition to its smartphones, the company now sells a variety of tech products, and this 8.3 million figure includes almost all of them.
Of the 8.3 million devices Realme sold in 30 days, which began on October 16 and ended on November 15, the largest share was occupied by the company’s smartphones. According to the company’s data, 6.3 million out of 8.3 million smartphones were sold during this period. This shows that the company is heading in the right direction when it comes to sales but, at the same time, it is bad news for Realme’s rivals including Xiaomi and Samsung who are engaged in the cutthroat competition in the smartphone market in India. While Xiaomi dominates the market with the highest market share, Samsung is among the other four in the rankings.
Realme said it experienced more than 20% year-over-year growth with the latest data after the company closed its holiday sales. The company started selling a wide range of its products before Diwali, including the latest IoT products such as Smart Cam 360, Realme Sound Bar, Realme 55-inch 4K SLED TV, and two electric toothbrushes, among others. Its smartphone portfolio is gaining more competitors than ever in all price categories. But one series surpassed every other series during these sales.
According to Realme, its Realme 7 series has sold over 1.6 million units, the highest number for a series in the entire number of smartphone sales. This data, the company says, represents sales made through Realme’s online store, its offline store, Flipkart, and Amazon’s e-commerce platforms. These numbers also include the sales brick and mortar stores across India have made. The Realme 7 series has three models: Realme 7, Realme 7 Pro and Realme 7i, each priced differently and has almost the same features with small variations. The most expensive of all is Realme 7 Pro which houses an AMOLED display, 65W fast charging and four 64MP cameras on the back.
Realme is further expanding this lineup today, although not in India for now. Later, in Europe, the Realme 7 5G will be launched marking the entry of the first 5G phone in the company’s number series. This smartphone is believed to be a rebadged version of the Realme V5 which was launched in China a few days ago. While this is happening for Europe, Realme’s most important market, India, will soon receive the Realme X7 series. The company hasn’t shared when it plans to bring 5G-powered X7 series phones, but that could happen in December or next year in January.
