Realme 7 5G brings 5G connectivity to very capable mid-range device with 120Hz screen

Realme 7 5G is the most advanced smartphone that has just been added to the company’s 7 series. The new smartphone offers support for next-generation 5G networks in the UK, making it the first phone of its kind in Realme’s number series phones. Enabling 5G connectivity on it is a MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset, which is a low cost chipset with integrated 5G modem available on some other Realme 5G phones available in China. The Realme 7 5G is a major upgrade over the vanilla Realme 7 which is available in India for Rs 14,999. Not only 5G, but Realme 7 5G also offers a 120Hz screen.

The Realme 7 5G was launched in the UK by the company, which is the first market to get Realme’s new phone. However, this phone doesn’t look new. Following the specs of this smartphone, it looks like a rebranded version of the Realme V5 5G that was launched in China a few months ago. This means that perhaps Realme will limit the V series to only the Chinese market while the rest of the markets will get 5G connectivity in different avatars. But for now it is not all concrete. Realme may have different plans for different markets, such as its plan to launch the Realme X7 series in India soon.

    Realme 7 5G price

The Realme 7 5G will be available at an introductory price of € 229 (around Rs 20,000) before the price returns to the original of € 279 (around Rs 24,500). It will arrive in a blue color starting November 30 on Amazon in European countries.

Realme 7 5G uses an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor that has 5G on board to provide the smartphone with 5G connectivity. But this phone only has less than 6GHz bandwidth available for 5G connectivity; There is no mmWave type that guarantees higher 5G speeds on some carriers in the UK. It has a 6.5-inch 1080p LCD that brings a refresh rate up to 120Hz, which is an upgrade over the 90Hz refresh rate that the regular Realme 7 has. But while this looks good on paper, it will have less or no difference in how you will consume the content on the display. The maximum difference will be noticed when playing or browsing the content. This is by far the maximum refresh rate a Realme number series device has received.

Moving forward, the Realme 7 5G only brings a single configuration of RAM and memory, which is 6GB of RAM and 128GB of RAM. The Vanilla Realme 7 has more than one RAM and a storage variant, giving you enough choices in the segment. Either way, if you feel this isn’t enough, you can add a microSD card of up to 256GB inside the Realme 7 5G. It has an LCD, which means you can’t expect the fingerprint sensor to be under the display. Instead, the Realme 7 5G has a fingerprint sensor mounted on the power button on the side. I think this is a more comfortable location for a fingerprint sensor than those on the back or on the display.

Photography on Realme 7 5G is handled by four cameras. There is a 48MP main camera which is responsible for the kind of photography the phone has to offer. This is a downgrade from the 64MP camera that the vanilla Realme 7 has. I tested that sensor and found that it is good enough for the price you are paying. You have a night mode and a macro mode in the camera. There are three other sensors on the back of the device, including an 8MP ultrawide sensor, a 2MP macro sensor, and a vertically stacked 2MP depth sensor. The front camera for selfies uses a 16MP sensor which also supports portrait mode. This camera is housed inside a hole in the upper left corner of the screen. In my experience, this kind of setup for the front camera doesn’t distract at all when gaming or watching videos.

Realme 7 5G uses a 5000mAh battery that can charge up to 30W with the supplied Dart Charge power brick. Realme claims that this phone’s battery can go from 0 to 50% in about 26 minutes. I had tested this statement on the regular Realme 7 and found it almost true. My observations are collected in this review. Other than that, the Realme 7 5G has a 3.5mm headphone jack for gamers to enjoy. There is support for Dolby Atmos on Realme 7 5G, which allows it to stream high quality audio. Realme 7 5G looks like a solid phone on paper, but only time will tell how good it looks in the real world.

Realme has launched a new smartphone in the UK called Realme 7 5G which becomes the first 5G phone in the company’s number series.
