Oppo is working on a wide range of devices and some of them will be equipped with flagship hardware. One such flagship device could be a phone that will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, some rumors suggested earlier. Now, a new leak has emerged which gives an idea of this new chipset, saying that Snapdragon 870 could be an optimized version of the Snapdragon 865 processor with a slightly higher clock speed.

According to credible tipster Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 870 will have its high-performance cores clocked at 3.20 GHz, which is significantly higher than the clock speed of the Snapdragon 865 processor. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, which was launched on last year, it runs at 2.84 GHz on the vanilla variant while the advanced Snapdragon 876+ variant has a clock speed of 3.09 GHz. Not just the base speed, the GPU on this SoC will have an enhanced Adreno 650 GPU, which it will be 905 MHz from the base frequency of 587 MHz and 645 MHz on the vanilla and Plus variants, respectively.

With such a significant jump in GPU frequency, the Snapdragon 870 processor’s GPU score in the AnTuTu benchmark will increase by 70,000 points from the 240,000 points the current Snapdragon 865 processor achieved using its GPU. Aside from the clock speed of the high-performance cores of the Snapdragon 870 processor and the clock speed of the GPU that will follow, the base frequency of the efficiency cores of this processor is not available at the moment.

Information on the processor of this variant is unclear at this time, but it is speculated that the Reno 5 Pro + could include the Snapdragon 870 processor. Nothing is set in stone right now, so readers are advised to take this news with a pinch of salt.

Oppo has also announced its partnership with Qualcomm where it will use the Snapdragon 875 processor. But this processor will likely be reserved for Find X3 series phones that are expected to come out in the first half of 2021.

Specifications expected for Oppo Find X3
