Oppo is finally catching up with its too many subsidiaries with the launch of its first televisions. Long after OnePlus and Realme launched their smart TVs, Oppo launches one that brings the greatest functionality to date. Oppo’s new smart TVs have a 120Hz panel, which means videos and shows will play twice as smooth as the regular 60Hz panel. This also means that Oppo caters to gamers who are looking for big screens but they have to make do with the 60Hz refresh rate on them. There aren’t many TVs on the market with high refresh rates and that’s what Oppo is looking to change with its new TVs.

The Oppo Smart TV is available in two models, the first is called S1 with a 120Hz panel and the other called R1 which is available in two sizes but with 60Hz panels. The Oppo Smart TV S1 costs CNY 7,999 (around Rs 87,800) while the Oppo Smart TV R1 starts at CNY 3,299 (around Rs 36,200). Oppo is launching these two models in China for now and hasn’t said anything about it will bring its smart TVs to other markets.

The Oppo Smart TV S1 is available in a single 65-inch QLED Quantum Dot panel with 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. There is HDR and Dolby Vision on the display. Oppo claims that the display can offer a brightness of 1,500 nits, which sounds impressive on paper for the panel. There is also TUV Rheinland certification for eye protection. Oppo has allowed this panel to extend forward by up to 1.86mm to deliver a 3D-like viewing experience. The company calls it the floating TV design.

Powering the TV is a MediaTek MT9950 processor with 8.5 GB of RAM. There is 128GB of storage on the TV, which is pretty much a lot to have on the TV but not when you install games. You also have a 1080p pop-up selfie camera on your TV, which might come in handy when you want to make a video call on the big screen, despite the lack of apps to support it. The Oppo Smart TV R1 has a total of 18 speakers, for a total power of 85W. This speaker setup also includes a 25W subwoofer and the sound is tuned by Dolby Atmos. Oppo is preparing his assistant Breeno also on television. And finally, you have Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Bluetooth, HDMI ports, LAN port, and other connectivity options.

Oppo Smart TV R1 is available in two sizes: 65 inches and 55 inches, both equipped with 60 Hz LCD with 4K resolution. Both TVs are powered by MediaTek chipset, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, have a 1080p pop-up camera, and Dolby Audio support on speakers that deliver 20W maximum output.

Oppo is making a quantum leap with its first smart TV models that bring 120Hz panels and a camera on top.
