Last month Nikon announced two new lenses for its Z series full-frame mirrorless cameras. The new lenses are NIKKOR Z 14-24mm F2.8 S and NIKKOR Z 50mm F1.2 S. Today, Nikon Japan confirmed that the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm F2.8 S lens will start shipping on October 30th.
As reported by Nikon Rumors, shipping of the 14-24mm F2.8 lens will begin earlier than expected. Nikon’s initial press release stated that the company will release the two lenses in November.
For the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm F2.8 S lens, Nikon claims it “is the shortest and lightest full-frame zoom lens.” The new lens is compact when retracted and weighs around 650 grams.
Its optical system has 16 elements in 11 groups which include four ED lens elements to help control chromatic aberrations, 3 aspherical elements, elements with Nano Crystal and ARNEO coatings to control ghosting and glare, and one element of the front lens coated with fluorine. The new camera lens is weatherproof to combat dust and water.
NIKKOR Z 14-24mm F2.8 S works in both automatic and manual mode. The lens allows autofocus and also features internal focusing.
The price and availability of the new lens are not yet known for the Indian market. But users in India can expect the release of NIKKOR Z 14-24mm F2.8 S lens along with NIKKOR Z 50mm F1.2 S very soon due to the product listing on Nikon India official webpage.
