New MacBook Pro Gets M1 Chip With 20 Hour Battery Life

The new 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros were announced Tuesday with Apple’s custom M1 system-on-chip. It gives the MacBook Pro 20 hours of video playback, 2.8x faster performance, and more.

Available for order today and will begin shipping on November 17th.

MacBook Pro M1 13-inch

Featuring the all-new 8-core M1 CPU, the new MacBook Pro is 2.8x faster than the previous generation. The 8-core GPU is up to 5x faster, machine learning is up to 11x faster, and will give customers 17 hours of web browsing and 20 hours of video playback. Apple claims this is the longest battery life of all mac.

The M1 has a new image signal processor for sharper webcam images and more detail in the highlights and shadows during video calls, but the webcam itself is still 720p.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at $ 1,299 or $ 108.25 per month for 12 months with monthly Apple Card payments. The 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $ 1,499 per month or $ 124.91 for 12 months with monthly payments of Apple Card.
