Fresh gameplay wrinkles will include changing weather conditions and the addition of an eighth player on the field to make match-ups even more chaotic than they were before. Sadly, there’s no word on a release date right now, and with a chunk of the developer’s team in Ukraine, production is likely to be postponed as a result of the current conflict.
On PlayStation 5 and PS4, a sequel to Digital Dreams’ Mutant Football League – which was itself an homage to SEGA Genesis cult hit Mutant League Football – will be released. The game, which is an arcade rendition of American football with bribed officials and cartoon brutality, will add new mutants and game types to the original, as well as a massively enlarged Dynasty Supreme franchise feature and enhanced graphics.
While the original Mutant Football League was admittedly a little rough around the edges, we enjoyed its irreverent take on America’s most popular sport, and found it an enjoyably over-the-top alternative to the Madden NFL franchise. One thing we’re particularly fond of is all the use of puns: Karcass City Creeps, anyone?
