As a result of the partnership with Zoom, users who have Direct Guest Join enabled through settings will be able to schedule a new Zoom meeting or forward an existing Zoom meeting to the Teams Room on Android. The meeting will appear on the calendar and will be available to join from there.

As the Android version of MTR adds a functionality previously available on Windows, Direct Guest Join will first be accessible on Poly devices and select Yealink devices, with others to come. Microsoft Teams Direct Guest Join is also available for Zoom Rooms users. Microsoft has announced that Zoom meetings will be supported in Teams Rooms on Android. Direct guest join will be accessible on Poly and select Yealink devices at first, with other manufacturers following suit shortly after.

Highlights

  • Direct guest join enables Teams Room users to skip the process of entering a meeting ID and passcode every time they join a Zoom call. The feature was already available for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows. Organisations with Zoom Rooms can similarly enable Microsoft Teams Direct Guest Join.
