Memphis men’s soccer drops to number 8 SMU

DALLAS – No. 8 SMU scored four goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to defeat Memphis men’s football 5-0 at Dallas’ Crum Lacrosse Field on Saturday. After a goalless first half, SMU opened the scoring in the first 92 seconds of the second half on a goal from Thomas Haney on assist from Noah Hilt. Hilt made Mustang 2-0 three minutes later. Gabriel Costa punched a penalty in the 54th minute and then Papa N’doye made the 4-0 SMU in the 56th minute on an assist from Skage Simonsen and Knut Ahlander. N’doye scored his second goal of the match from a penalty kick in the 67th minute to round out the score. The Tigers were outshot 27-7 and had a shot on goal against 10. Both teams had four corners. Memphis goalkeeper and Dallas native Parker Lackland scored five saves. In the first half, SMU beat Memphis 16-4 with four shots on target to none for the Tigers. Memphis dropped to 1-2 this season with both losses to number 8 SMU, which improved to 3-0. The Tigers lost 2-0 to SMU for a couple of goals on set pieces this season …
