Steam, the popular game store for Windows PCs and other platforms, receives its annual fall games festival. The Steam Game Festival returns on October 13 where parent company Valve will offer hundreds of games for free. Valve is promoting indie game developers with this festival, so take a break from those traditional games and see what the indie developer community has to offer.
Until October 13, starting at 1pm ET (10:30 pm IST in India), some popular games such as Alpaca Ball: Allstars, Cake Bash, Ghostrunner, Garden Story and Smash Ball will be free for Steam users. The Steam Game Festival will also make games coming out within the next six months available for free, so that these developers can get extended exposure.
The fall edition of the Steam Game Festival is approaching in the wake of the spring edition that took place earlier this year. Presumably, this spring edition made up for the Game Developers Conference which was canceled. The indie game developer community has missed the opportunity to showcase their talent to players by demonstrating their titles to be featured on Valve’s digital store.
Not only the biggest independent developer titles, but the Steam Game Festival will also feature live streams of content creators and developers for one week for free. These live streams will feature interviews, special gameplay and live commentary for the duration of the event.
Steam users will have the opportunity to play these games for free by giving their support to independent game developers.
