iPhone 12 won’t support 5G in dual SIM mode for now, Indian users need not worry about it

However, Apple plans to enable 5G support in Dual SIM mode with a software update later this year, suggests an internal Verizon slide accessible from MacRumours. Meanwhile, Verizon says eSIM customers must remove the physical SIM from their file iPhone 12 o iPhone 12 Pro to access its 5G network.

When is 5G expected in India? Not for quite some time, at least until 2022 according to Ericson, the Swedish telecommunications equipment manufacturer. This means that users can have two lines of service on one iPhone, useful for purchasing data-only plans while traveling abroad or to have personal and work lines in a single solution iPhone.

According to a report by EY, unlike 4G which is mainly used for mobile connectivity, 5G in India will be used for eMBB (advanced mobile broadband) in addition to applications in areas that require low latency.

Apple will not support 5G on dual SIM at the launch of iPhone 12. However, support will be available later this year with updated software, the reports suggest.
