Unfortunately, since this information was found in the code of the latest version of the WhatsApp beta for Android, there is no information on when the social media will release the feature to the public. But we are happy that WhatsApp has decided to implement that option. For example, Telegram already offers the ability to use multiple phones. So, it is a bit odd that WhatsApp, a messaging platform used by millions of people all around the world, doesn’t have this function as well.
The inability to use WhatsApp on several phones is one of the greatest complaints about the service. Although you can add up to three extra devices to your profile, only one of them can be a smartphone. But things might change shortly. According to a recent WABetaInfo story, WhatsApp is developing a new companion mode that will let you attach a second device to your account. Your chat history will also be directly replicated onto the companion phone, as shown in the image below. The pop-up window also states that while it can take a while for the transfer to end, it will usually just take a few minutes to duplicate your chat history.
