Ignore Windows 11, Windows 12 will reportedly be out soon

According to Windows Central, Microsoft is switching back to its old three-year release date rhythm, meaning a Windows 11 successor could arrive soon. Dubbed “next valley”, insiders say the company’s next major operating system should arrive in 2024, while planned Sun Valley 3 features will now be included as part of the upcoming Sun Valley 2 update.

Given that Microsoft has reportedly scrapped a big update and intends to release Windows 12 in 2024, a Windows 11 successor appears to be in the works. Windows 12: A laptop with the Windows 11 logo, a cross-over number, and the number 12 at the right hand of the text. Microsoft is reportedly preparing to introduce Windows 12 in 2024 even though Windows 11 has only recently entered the market. In an effort to get ready for its upcoming significant operating system release, the business is also said to have cancelled its next significant Windows update, known as Sun Valley 3.

Highlights

  • In terms of market share, Windows 10 still wears the operating system crown, but Windows 11 is slowly taking over the reins. Whether or not it’ll completely take over before 2024 remains to be seen, but gaming PC features like auto HDR and DirectStorage should help tempt more users to make the jump.

  • It’s not clear whether the next major release will arrive with a Windows 12 title, especially if it pulls another ‘seven ate nine’ gag like with Windows 10. As you’d perhaps expect, the OS is also very early on in development, so it’ll be a while before we get a sniff at potential features. If you’re a fan of Windows 11, news of a successor might come as a sombre surprise. However, an additional change in update practices means the operating system could gain new features every few months, meaning it’ll potentially burn bright before it hands over its keys.

A ruined building in Outriders WorldslayerBUY NOW
We’ve broken down a few of the best new Legendary weapons from the Outriders Worldslayer DLC to help you decide which one you’ll aim for first. Remember – each of these has a chance to drop as an Apocalypse Tier weapon. This twisted hunk of green and grey may look like something that crawled out of a swamp, but its toxicity works in your favour. This weapon will suit a Technomancer to a T.

With Outriders’ new expansion Worldslayer introducing a whole host of new stories, enemies, areas, and loot, that weapons rack is about to get a sizable upgrade. There are a host of new Legendary weapons up for grabs, each with its own specific Mods for dealing some colossal damage, and a brand-new gear tier: Apocalypse. Apocalypse gear comes with a third Mod slot with a set Mod already assigned. When Legendary and Epic items drop, they have a chance of being an Apocalypse variant, meaning you could end up with a weapon that has three Tier 3 Mods on it. Your chance of snagging one of these deadly weapons increases as your Apocalypse Tier rises, which can be boosted by completing various challenges.

The Stigmatized Mod inflicts Toxic, marking the enemy for five seconds. They will then explode upon death, dealing damage across six metres and marking anyone caught in the crossfire. Grand Opening is the second Mod, which creates a powerful explosion if you manage a first-time hit, dealing damage in a five metre radius. The Charred Lance is a fiery assault weapon. Capable of decimating even the strongest armour, and equipped with two passive damage Mods, this one can rip anything to shreds in seconds.
