The preliminary round of the 6A state swim competition was held on Friday night at Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center. There were two different sessions for boys and girls.
The girls of American Fork and the boys of Lone Peak are the defending champions of 5A.
Skyridge junior Katelyn Andrist set two new 6A state records on Friday, setting a record time of 1: 56.27 in the 200 freestyle and a time of 5: 04.47 in the 500 freestyle.
The Lone Peak women’s 200 freestyle relay also set a new record in 1: 40.71.
As for the boys, Bingham’s Tanner Nelson set a new state record of 6A in the 500 freestyle with a great time of 4: 36.08.
Here is a list of the top eight qualifiers for Saturday’s finals in each event.
