Govt bans 43 more apps citing national security, CamCard, Alipay and list of other banned apps here

On Tuesday, the Indian government released a new list of apps it wants to block under the IT Act. These apps join hundreds of other apps previously banned by the government due to security concerns. Also, the common thing among all of these apps is their Chinese affiliation, which the government has expressed concern about.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued an order pursuant to section 69A of the Information Technology Take action by blocking access to 43 mobile apps. This action was taken on the basis of inputs related to these apps to engage in activities detrimental to India’s sovereignty and integrity, defense of India, state security and public order. MeitY has issued an order to block access to these apps by users in India based on full reports received from the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center, Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Previously, on June 29, 2020, the Indian government had blocked access to 59 mobile apps, and on September 2, 2020, a further 118 apps were banned under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. The government is committed to protecting the interests of citizens and India’s sovereignty and integrity on all fronts and will take all possible measures to ensure this.
