Google Search adds daily word alerts to Android and iOS - here's how it works

When using the dictionary tool in Search on mobile, entries will show a “bell” icon in the top-right corner. It’s similar to the one found on other Knowledge Panel topics. The report said that Google is presumably not sending the same word notification to every Search user, but it would be amusing if it did to serve as a global touchpoint. The mobile notification notes the word and definition, while a tap opens the full Search result. The feature is available in the Google apps on Android and iOS, as well as the mobile web versions.

The “Memories” carousel will be added to Google Photos on the web soon. Google stated that the functionality will be available on virtually any device following this update. For those who are unaware, the Memories carousel sits on top of the Google Photos app for Android and iOS. This area contains a collection of photographs and videos from your most recent trip or previous highlights. When you tap the Memories carousel, a fullscreen interface appears, with the day and date listed on the top left. Users will also be able to star, share, and print the photographs. Other memories are presented at the right border of the screen, allowing users to smoothly transition between them. The Google Photos account tweeted the news.
