Figures from International Data Corp showed shipments of PCs rose 13% from April to June, but the pace of growth was much slower than last year’s frenzy. Its cloud-computing unit, VMware, grew 8%, thanks to orders from companies looking to cut costs and expand their digital presence.
Dell Technologies Inc surpassed market expectations for second-quarter revenue on Thursday, owing to robust demand for its laptops, desktops, and cloud services due to the transition to hybrid work. While the industry has been hit by component shortages and supply chain issues, sales at Dell’s client solutions segment – which houses its hardware devices – increased by 27% to $14.3 billion, a new high.
