However, any high quality images or videos uploaded before June 21, 2021 will not count towards the 15GB of free storage. Photos backed up before June 21st will be considered free and will be exempt from the storage limit.
Google notes that if you upload your photos and videos in original quality, the changes you make won’t have any impact. Original quality photos and videos will continue to count towards the 15GB of free storage in your Google Account.
Google Pixel users will also not be affected by the changes. If you’re using a Pixel 1 to 5 device, you’ll still be able to upload high-quality photos and videos for free even after June 21st.
“This change won’t take effect for another six months, so you don’t have to do anything now. And once this change goes into effect on June 1, 2021, more than 80% of you should still be able to store around three more years of memories with your 15GB of free storage.
