Google Meet for Android gets revamped UI

The Google Meet Android app has a new look and some new buttons with an updated user interface (UI). In addition to the new look, the updated user interface also offers some quick shortcut buttons. The new Google Meet button has received a quick start summary. When a user clicks “New Meeting”, they will have options to share a link, start an instant meeting, schedule in calendar, and close. Also, the new Google Meet has ditched its old green theme and is now blue in color.

The new look and UI of the Android app is the same as seen with the Gmail app. The new features were first implemented for the Google Meet tab in Gmail and in the Google Meet app for iOS and have now been made available to Android users. This feature is now fully available on Android and can be accessed by updating the Google Meet app via PlayStore.

You can’t help but notice the feedback from users on PlayStore asking Google to retrieve the old version of Meet. Some users have complained about the absence of a chat, while others have a problem with the incessant notification whenever someone joins or leaves a meeting.

Google in one of its responses to the PlayStore feedback noted that the new UI helps ensure a consistent on-call meeting experience via the standalone Meet app and Meet tab in Gmail.

Last month, Google Meet announced the extension of longer free calls on its Meet service until March 31, 2021. The company said the feature that was due to expire at the end of September will now continue to work as is.

Google Meet also introduced a feature that can filter out sounds during the call. The app has launched the noise canceling feature on Android and iOS. The noise canceling function or denoiser function separates the extra noise from your voice using Google’s AI technology.

Google Meet has introduced a new user interface (UI) for Android users. You can access the new design by updating Google Meet on PlayStore.
