“Strap on your proton pack and step into the world of Ghostbusters in immersive virtual reality,” the official website teases. “Start your Ghostbusters HQ in a new city, San Francisco, and solve a deep mystery across a new chapter in the Ghostbusters universe. Track, blast, and trap ghosts in gripping encounters by wielding iconic equipment.”
Sony Pictures just wrapped off a Meta Quest livestream with the announcement of Ghostbusters VR, which is being created by Fracked creator nDreams – but there’s no news on whether the game will be available for PSVR2. The game, which was announced by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg himself, was teased with a cinematic trailer, indicating that it is still in the early stages of production, but it would have a “extensive and compelling campaign.” You’ll be able to play single or in co-op with up to three other people.
We know that nDreams is working with PSVR2, so it seems likely this will come to Sony’s headset eventually, but there’s no comment on that at the time of publication – bizarre considering Sony Pictures holds the rights to the Ghostbusters franchise. In the meantime, a non-VR asymmetric multiplayer game named Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed has been announced for PS5 and PS4, so it’s a good time to be a fan of the iconic film franchise.
