Tech News: Ghost of Tsushima dev might be working on a new multiplayer game for PS5.
Sucker Punch released Ghost of Tsushima last year, with great success and commercial success, and followed the game with a free cooperative update called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. Now it looks like the studio is working on another PS5 multiplayer game. According to a recently discovered job posting on the official Sucker Punch website, qualified candidates will be responsible for assisting the existing multiplayer team with a “spectacular multiplayer game”.
The wording of the job offer indicates that it is something completely separate from Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, so it doesn’t appear that this role has been filled to help with any future updates to that mode. It’s also extremely safe to assume that this game will only be available on PS5, as PS4 titles across generations are unlikely to be released as time goes on.
Sucker Punch Productions is one of many studios under the Sony Worldwide Studios umbrella and also created the Infamous franchise during the PlayStation 3 era. Ghost of Tsushima was very successful for the studio, selling over 6.5 million copies up to to date, with a film scheduled.
A job announcement discovered last year indicated that Sucker Punch was hiring a team to work on a game with a “desire to write stories set in feudal Japan”, likely indicating that Ghost of Tsushima 2 will appear in the future for PS5. It is unclear if this is for the same game as the multiplayer location or if they are currently working on separate projects.
Looking ahead, there are still some great PS5 exclusives to be released pretty soon, like Housemarque’s sci-fi roguelike Returnal and Insomniac Games’ Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
