Fujifilm cameras are broadly classified into X system and GFX system. The latter consists of three cameras in total at the moment: Fujifilm GFX100, Fujifilm GFX 50S, and Fujifilm GFX 50R. According to the latest internet rumors, the company may soon add one latest GFX system camera to its portfolio.
The new Fujifilm GFX camera could arrive in the first half of 2021. The camera could come with the same sensor that was included in the current Fujifilm GFX100 camera model. The GFX100 camera packs a 102 megapixel Bayer image sensor with full phase detection coverage.
There are no official leaks or many voiced specs and features of the new Fujifilm GFX based on which we could have an estimate of what the camera will look like. But two things are certain: one, the new Fujifilm GFX will be an incremental upgrade over the existing Fujifilm GFX100 camera and two, the new GFX camera model will be a medium format camera with a sensor larger than a 35mm.
Previously, there has been speculation about Fujifilm to introduce a black and white camera similar to the Leica M10 Monochrom, but it appears that this is not the case. The company is preparing to expand its line of GFX cameras.
The name of the alleged camera that could be launched next year is still unknown. But yes, there will be more details on the new Fujifilm GFX camera as we approach 2020. We are counting on the leaks to come or hope the company makes an official announcement.
