Earlier this month, Fujifilm said it plans to release a free firmware update on October 28. The company brought the firmware update for the Fujifilm X-T3 camera model. While the new firmware update brings a couple of improvements, the main focus was on improving the camera’s autofocus performance.
Firmware version 4.00 for Fujifilm X-T3 offers faster autofocus speed, from 0.06 seconds to 0.02 seconds, which is actually equivalent to the performance of the latest X-T4. The Fujifilm X-T4 mirrorless camera was launched in May in India for Rs 1,54,999.
The company claims that the algorithm for predicting subject movements has also been updated with free firmware to capture the moment of the moving photo. In addition to this, the tracking performance of the autofocus has been doubled. Users must “Press the shutter button halfway when a subject is in the focus area to keep the focus on the subject with a higher level of precision”.
Improved autofocus performance for face and eyes help in continuous shooting modes. “The camera can focus on a face or eyes more quickly and accurately even when shooting portraits that involve some movement,” says Fujifilm.
The new firmware allows the camera’s autofocus to work in low light conditions down to -7EV. This exposure value helps in phase detection AF in near dark conditions.
Finally, firmware version 4.00 for Fujifilm X-T3 adds the “Focus Limiter” function which provides users with a specific predefined focus range.
To update the firmware, camera users need to perform the following steps:
–Check the firmware version. – Prepare a formatted memory card. – Download the firmware and copy it to the card. – Insert the memory card with the firmware into the camera and update it.
