Motorola packs its mid-range smartphone in a sturdy plastic chassis whose matte back cover shimmers in different hues depending on the light, which gives it a classy touch. The AMOLED panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, and IP52 certification means that the Edge 30 is dust- and water resistant.
With a thickness of just under 7 millimetres, Motorola’s Edge 30 is among the thinnest 5G smartphones now available. The 6.5-inch mid-range smartphone’s 144 Hz display, 8 GB of RAM, and Snapdragon 778G+ processor all contribute to its incredibly fluid performance in daily use. Highlights
Meanwhile, manufacturers are increasingly opting to leave out the power supply for their smartphones. This is not the case with the Edge 30. A 33-watt power adapter is included, which can fully recharge the mid-range smartphone in around one hour. Overall, we encountered very few points of criticism during the review process, but the comparatively small battery of 4020 mAh is definitely among the drawbacks. Apart from the low weight, further highlights include the stock (and largely unchanged) Android 12 and the 144 Hz AMOLED panel. Although the screen of the Edge 20 predecessor also has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 (FHD+), both differ significantly in terms of brightness. Under testing, the Edge 30 achieves an average brightness of around 630 cd/m², making it much more flexible in everyday use than the Edge 20, which has an average brightness of only 480 cd/m². The Edge 30 also supports HDR10+.
