The first FAFSA Friday session is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 1 — the day the 2022-23 FAFSA opens — in room 207 and 209 of the Regional Postsecondary Center on the Elizabethtown campus. Sessions also will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29 in the ECTC Financial Aid Office room 105. Participants should sign up in advance at elizabethtown.kctcs.edu.
According to a news release, free assistance is available to current college students and those who will begin college by the fall of 2022 regardless of where they plan to attend college.
Those scholarships include ECTC scholarships as well as the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, which could make college tuition-free for students pursuing high-demand career fields in healthcare, advanced manufacturing, business and information technology, construction and trades, and transportation and logistics.
“Everyone planning to attend college should complete the FAFSA,” said ECTC Financial Aid Director Michael Barlow in the release. “Many students don’t complete the FAFSA because they don’t think they’ll qualify for grants such as the federal Pell grant, but the FAFSA is commonly required for scholarships, too.”
FAFSA Friday attendees should bring their 2020 taxes, social security card and, if a dependent, their parents’ 2020 taxes.
FAFSA Friday events are a helpful option for current college students, high school seniors and adults who starting or returning to college, Barlow said in the release.
