PC accessory maker Cooler Master is jumping into the lucrative curved gaming monitor business with a couple of models of its own. The 27-inch GM27-CFX and 34-inch GM34-CWQA are now shipping for $430 and $640 USD, respectively, each with 98 percent P3 coverage, VA panels, 0.5 ms response times, and adaptive sync.

Cooler Master has released the curved VA gaming monitors GM27-CFX and GM34-CWQ, both of which have 98 percent DCI-P3 coverage. To compete with other high-end curved gaming monitors like the Alienware AQ3420DW, the monitors include quantum dot screens, rapid refresh rates, and fast reaction times.

Highlights

  • Since the two monitors utilize VA panels instead of IPS or TN, users can expect noticeably deeper blacks and higher contrast ratios at the expense of narrower viewing angles than IPS and a certain level of smearing. More information and specifications on the GM27 and GM34 can be found on their respective Cooler Master product pages below. Are you a techie who knows how to write? Then join our Team!

  • Of course, there are major differences between the GM27 and GM34 aside from their screen sizes. For example, the smaller 16:9 model has a native refresh rate of 240 Hz and resolution of 1080p compared to 144 Hz and 1440p on the larger 21:9 model. Additionally, the larger monitor supports USB-C and Power Delivery for video and charging of supported laptops while the smaller monitor does not.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There’s a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
