Sony originally remastered LocoRoco and LocoRoco 2 for PS4, both of which are available for subscribers in the list of All PS Plus Games, but LocoRoco Midnight Carnival was locked on PSP up until recently. While largely similar to the original two titles in the series, the spin-off ups the overall difficulty and introduces some extremely attractive environments. We awarded it a 7/10 in our review, explaining that if you “get over the frustrating parts, you’ll find plenty here to make you smile”.

LocoRoco Midnight Carnival, a fantastic PSP platformer, is coming to the PS5 and PS4 as part of PS Plus Premium (or, indeed, PS Plus Deluxe). The game has been posted on the PS Store even though it hasn’t yet received an official announcement for the service, probably in anticipation of a quick release. “Up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters” are mentioned in the page description, indicating that this is being emulated like previous PS Plus Premium games like Echochrome.

  • We suspect this will be part of July’s update, which will also add Stray and a host of Assassin’s Creed games, assuming rumours are correct in the latter’s case. Other PSP titles expected to be added imminently include Ridge Racer 2, so it looks like there’s loads for subscribers to look forward to over the coming weeks.
