Clubhouse is now available worldwide on Android

Tech News: Clubhouse is now available worldwide on Android.

As promised, Clubhouse launched worldwide on Android, opening the app to many more potential users. The company behind the app, Alpha Technologies, had promised to launch it this afternoon and it now appears to be available in France and the UK.

The invite-only app calls itself “voice chat,” allowing users to start a “room” with moderators, speakers, and listeners. When it first launched in March 2020, Clubhouse had the pitch all to itself, but has since been joined by competing products like Twitter’s.

Clubhouse got a big boost after Elon Musk spoke to the famous site, but some have questioned the app’s resilience in the face of increased competition. Worldwide availability of Android will help, but Twitter Spaces, on the other hand, is open to anyone with more than 600 followers and is directly integrated into the main app. Furthermore, Facebook is set to open a rival feature called “rooms” sometime this summer.
